Case Study:

Capturing Impact Under Pressure

Client: USAID Ibitabo Kuri Twese (IKT) Project
Service Area: Communications

When federal funding for a major literacy project was unexpectedly cut short during its second year, the Ibitabo Kuri Twese (IKT) team had to quickly pivot from implementation to reflection — with a sharp focus on documenting achievements and sharing results with key stakeholders.

Our Approach:
Rachel Blum LLC was brought in to help the project tell its story — clearly, credibly, and quickly. Within a tight three-week window, Rachel worked closely with the project team to:

  • Synthesize insights from project reports, monitoring data, and technical notes;

  • Surface and document results across core workstreams

  • Curate tools and knowledge products that reflected IKT’s legacy and technical value; and

  • Craft four concise communications briefs tailored to multiple audiences: local partners, government stakeholders, and funders.

The Result:
The IKT team was able to quickly and confidently share its achievements with stakeholders — leaving behind a clear, well-documented legacy of impact. Despite the abrupt closeout, the project’s innovations, tools, and lessons were captured and shared in a way that honored the work and supported future learning. Rachel's work provided the implementing organization with high-quality materials for future use in strategy, communications, and business development.
